Philpotts is a multi award winning premium sandwich chain of 13 shops. Established and headquartered in Chester, Philpotts also has outlets in Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds and Bristol.  Described as the Betty’s of the sandwich bar world, it uses only the highest quality breads and ingredients for made to order sandwiches and home made soups.

The business was identified by Richard Tonks, the serial entrepreneur who founded the Savers Health & Beauty chain, as an exciting opportunity to roll out this tried and tested model throughout the country.  PPCF acted as lead adviser to Mr Tonks in his negotiations with the Vendor and financial backers.

The deal was funded by Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets and Mr Tonks, who will gain a significant and majority shareholding.  Phil Brown, who founded the business in 1985 and existing management will retain a 25% equity stake.
