DX is a logistics and parcel distribution company operating throughout the UK & Ireland providing next day delivery services for mail, parcels and 2-man deliveries to business and residential addresses.
PPCF were engaged to consider the options available to DX regarding its Business Direct operation; a provider of in-night logistics serving the field engineer market, distributing parts through a network of 365 unmanned intelligent drop boxes (ParcelXchanges) and via an In-Boot service.
After analysis of the division the decision was made that DX Business Direct was non-core and realising DX’s investment in the division would allow it to focus on its core B2B and B2C services. Following analysis of the situation it was clear that the best buyer of the business was the division’s main competitor – ByBox. A one-on-one sales process followed which concluded in a successful sale of Business Direct to ByBox; in doing so this created the dominant provider of in-night delivery services for field-service engineers.
PPCF led the project and negotiations, and managed the process to completion ensuring that disruption to the business was minimised whilst maximising value for the vendor.
