Meadowcroft School is a day school for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The School was opened in May 2007, providing education for boys and girls aged between 11 and 19 years old, is currently based in Wakefield and works closely with neighbouring local authorities to serve their special education needs.
PPCF was appointed as lead advisor to the vendors on the disposal of the business and approached a select pool of potential buyers including private equity backed and privately owned special school businesses. Through initial discussions with potential buyers PPCF identified a shortlist of interested parties who were capable of transacting and identified Acorn Care and Education children’s services group as the preferred buyer. Acorn delivers fostering, education and care services to children, their families and local authority customers and already operates 12 special needs schools. It is backed by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. PPCF focused on establishing value at an acceptable level for the vendors and then ensured that value was defended through the due diligence process.
