E B Bradshaw & Sons

Park Place advised the shareholders of E B Bradshaw & Sons, one of the UK’s leading independent flour milling businesses on the sale to Nimbus, a European investment company.

For over 230 years and six generations, the Bradshaw family have been involved in milling flour. The last 132 years have been from their current Bell Mills site bought by Mr E B Bradshaw in 1894. Bradshaws supply more than 4% of the UK’s flour demand. The business supplies a broad range of baker’s, biscuit and specialty flours to industrial, wholesale and artisan customers throughout the UK.

Following the strategic approach from several interested parties, Park Place was appointed to advise and manage the process. Nimbus were ultimately selected as the preferred bidder, having extensive experience in the industry through its previous ownership of Meneba, the largest flour mill in the Netherlands. Bradshaws will continue to operate independently under its existing brand and management structure alongside experienced milling executives form the former Meneba leadership team.

This transaction involved the hive-up of the several non-core and non-trading assets along with a legacy defined benefit scheme. The Bradshaw’s will continue to manage the non-core assets post completion.

Stuart Bradshaw commented “With the family association in milling for generations, preserving the long-term future of the business, our employees and our customer relationships has always been our priority. We believe Nimbus represents the right long-term partner to support the next phase of development for the business.”

Dan Renton, Partner commented “ It has been a privilege to advise Stuart and Simon Bradshaw and this wonderful family business. The skills and efforts of my colleagues Hector Simpson and Jay Smyth helped Park Place deliver a really great outcome that seeks to preserve and build on 132 years of heritage which was so important to our clients. Very best wishes to the team at Nimbus and thanks to the legal team at Clarion who worked shoulder to shoulder with us.”
